Nossa História
Created on May 8, 1981, in the city of Brasília-DF, the National Council of Fishing Entities – Conepe – was established by the regional fishing representative entities present at the Extraordinary General Assembly of ANEPE. Its first elected board had the following composition:
Presidency - Professional Association of Fishing Companies of the State of Pernambuco;
Vice-Presidency - Rio Grande Industries Center – CIRG;
Treasury - Association of Fishing Companies of Pará;
Secretariat - Fishing Industry Union of the State of São Paulo – SIPESP.
Since its establishment, CONEPE has had several names, such as the National Council for Business Fishing in 1999, the National Council for Fishing and Aquaculture from 2000 onwards, and the National Collective for Fishing and Aquaculture, which was changed in 2016.
Throughout its 45 years of existence, Conepe has sought, together with the Government, educational and research institutions, and in international partnerships, the development of actions to promote the productive chain of fishing and aquaculture, including proposals for legal frameworks such as the Fishing Law, governmental actions aimed at the organization of the national fishing fleet, technical and professional training, and the streamlining of bureaucratic processes.
